The Massachusetts Turnpike was a wonderful project to better the transportation of the citizens of Massachusetts.
This is an image of the Massachusetts Turnpike today. It is a total of 138.1 miles in length. It was first constructed in 1958. It was completely finished in 2003.
This is the official symbol of the Mass Pike. It is seen on many signs and routes on the pike. The pilgrim hats symbolize the pilgrims who landed in Massachusetts and show the idea of "new ground", such that of the highway.
This is one of the original pictures built after the construction of the Mass Turnpike. In this time the Turnpike was a much simpler place to travel on. It connected many main highways and cities such as Boston and Worcester.
All highways like the one pictured are very extensive. Some bridges on the Mass Pike are very layered and some are small. It also leads into small places, such as Logan Airport. These accommodations help the working man greatly.
This is a sign found on the Mass Pike. It shows the iconic pilgrim hat. The hat used to have an arrow sticking through it but many travelers were confused and thought they needed to follow the arrow right, it was later removed.
This photo is another of cars on the Massachusetts Turnpike. This Pike was planned to meet up with the Springfield bypass long ago which had the potential to add another 30 miles to the route. However, this idea was shot down slowly after proposed.
This is an upper view of a toll road. The tolls were first planned never to be implemented in the Mass Turnpike. However, due to a lack of funds and ability to pay their employee, it was later implemented.
This sign is dictating that those driving should expect heavy delays. This could have occurred due to an accident or road work. Many accidents happen on the Pike, sadly no less than three a month.

This shows one final toll booth. Some places such as the Logan Airport and the Ted Williams tunnel may cost more to ride that that of a simple road. However all passengers pay in knowledge the toll goes to a good cause.

As shown in this picture the turnpike is quite extensive. It goes quite the distance. You may ask how they afford it and that can be answered simply by saying via our toll booths. They are crucial to the maintenance of the highway. The roads are maintained by Mass Dot.
This photo shows a typical summer commute into the city. When cars get off of a toll road there can be a pile up. Many of the Mass Dot workers in history have tried to prevent his but there is no way around it.
Numerous toll booths will now offer a Fast Lane. The fast lane is a way that will automatically charge any toll costs from an account you withhold. When you pass the worker in the booth can alert if your balance is getting low, or run out.
This picture is another example of road work on the Mass Pike. Road work happens quite frequently on the Pike due to its age. Many people who use the Pike should expect delays during days with work.
This picture shows one more toll road. This shows a lane entitled E-Z Pass. E-Z Pass is just a brand of fast lane. "Tickets Only" refers to those who got tickets when they first got onto the highway.
